The star has donated the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the MVT, which operates to preserve the Britain's independent live music spots.

The star was given the award on 16 October as his latest record his work was declared the outstanding release of the past year.

The musician has opted to donate the funds to the MVT, in appreciation of the crucial part grassroots venues fulfilled in his beginning days.

"As an artist couldn't be pursuing what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the gigs I performed around the area, and beyond, when I was starting out," said Sam Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these venues have ceased operations – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, well-known musicians like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by applying a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which supports local stages.

Sam Fender also took part, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to assist 38 small stages across Britain.

The donation helped spaces that were confronting possible closure due to issues arising from water damage, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Other venues received funding support in upgrading amenities and sound and lighting systems that helped artists and fans.

"The notion that funds from performances in big venues helps the local stages, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just logical," Fender has commented.

Fender is among several artists to contribute his Mercury Prize prize money to charitable organizations.

Back when the band earned the prize in the mid-90s for their record the album, lead singer the singer declared that the act would give their winnings to the organization War Child.

During 2002, artist she divided her bounty between several charities, including the children's charity and a Sickle Cell organization.

"And I contributed a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was growing up and they required new equipment," the artist explained to outlets.

Previously, the band contributed their winnings to the local youth club that supported their group, alongside other local music groups.

Additionally the 1994 recipients the group contributed their award to a MS organization after a close contact was diagnosed the illness.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," stated singer the singer. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't require the extra, because we had the cake. So our success touched the lives of others."

Recently, the MVT revealed it had saved two small stages in that region, by placing them under public stewardship.

The Joiners in the city and the second in Bristol were purchased under the community ownership program, which is funded by Arts Council England and supporters who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
