Vinted Members Voice Frustration About Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
